Erectile dysfunction injection

Erectile dysfunction is a very common sexual disorder in men where the penis is not able to get and maintain an erection during the sexual act. The causes of erectile dysfunction are many. Oral medications like Levitra, Cialis and Viagra are normally prescribed to the patient by the doctor. However, when the case is serious, then injections may also be recommended by doctors.

The standard types of agents used in injections for treating erectile dysfunction are Alprostadil, Phentolamine and Papaverine. In the case of Alprostadil, the drug can be injected in three ways, i.e. by injecting the drug in the erectile tissue of the penis, by using a device that administers the drug through the urethra and by using it in a topical cream. The use of Alprostadil is not appropriate for those men with severe circulatory or nerve damage. Also men with bleeding abnormalities or men under other heavy medications should not take the injection. The side effects range from pain and a burning sensation in the body, scaring of the penis due to injections and sudden low pressure.

Hence we see that the use of injections has its own pros and cons. The pros are that the effect takes place quickly and the result is almost 100 % guaranteed. The cons are that not many people are comfortable taking injections in the penis. Also the side effects can be many. Hence it is best to take a proper consultation of a doctor before taking the injection. You can also take some injections on your own with the doctor's consultation. As a result, your frequent visits to the doctor are saved. Before Alprostadil, the two most common drugs for treating erectile dysfunction were Papaverine and Phentolamine. However the use of these drugs also triggered side effects like pain, ulcers and prolonged erections of the penis.

People, at present, prefer the injection therapy instead of MUSE therapy. Also penile injections are more preferred by men than other oral medications like Viagra. This is because injections are more effective than Viagra and the effect also takes place quickly. Nearly 45% of the people who take injections believe that injections are more effective than Viagra. As new drugs develop for injections, more and more people will resort to taking injections than taking medications. So do not wait for too long, ask your doctor on further details about the use of injections for treating erectile dysfunction.
